Ultrasound is a treatment modality used by chiropractors that utilizes high or low frequency sound waves that are transmitted to the surrounding tissue and vasculature. These sound waves penetrate the muscles to cause deep tissue muscle tightness and spasms. The warming effect also causes vessel vasodilatation which increases circulation to the area that assists in healing. Ultrasound can also be used to help decrease inflammation.

Electrical muscle stimulation is a treatment modality used by chiropractors that help in the relaxation of muscle spasms, increasing range of motion, reduction and prevention of muscle atrophy, reeducation of muscles, increasing local blood circulation, decreasing inflammation, promotes local healing and reduces pain.
